Viva's upcoming blockbuster "Penduko" has just been unveiled as one of the 10 selected films to grace the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival. With Matteo Guidicelli in the lead role, this film is set to be an epic cinematic experience, blending action, fantasy, and the rich tapestry of Philippine folklore. Viva Films, in collaboration with Epik Studios, has dropped the trailer of what they deem as the millennial makeover of the classic character, Pedro Penduko on October 20, 2023.
Joining Guidicelli in the cast are Albert Martinez, John Arcilla, Kylie Versoza, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Candy Pangilinan, Andrea del Rosario, Marissa Sanchez, Arron Villaflor, to name a few. The film is written and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana.
Pedro Penduko originates from Francisco V. Coching's comics. He is a symbol of resilience, courage and a true warrior. The narrative of Penduko revolves around his adventures and heroic quests in the face of supernatural adversaries, making him a beloved character among Filipinos and fans of folklore for many generations.
Penduko is set to premiere on December 25, 2023, in cinemas nationwide.
