Emily in Paris Season 4 Is Here to Chic Things Up

It’s time for Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) to update her language-learning app, because our favorite American in Paris is headed to new European destinations in Emily in Paris Season 4.

Emily in Paris Season 3 ended on a très dramatic note — with American in Paris Emily Cooper (Collins) learning that her on-and-off flirt buddy/neighbor/chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is expecting a baby with his on-and-off girlfriend/Emily’s friend Camille (Camille Razat).

In Season 4, “Emily finds herself with a busy travel schedule,” creator Darren Star tells Tudum. “From the French Alps to the piazzas of Rome, viewers will vicariously experience amazing new locations through Emily’s eyes. Expect new characters, a lot more drama, romance, and a whole new language to try and master.”

And now that Emily’s lived in Paris longer and has gotten to know her new friends even better, “she has that trust now,” Collins tells Tudum. “She’s created a safe space where she can be extra vulnerable. I love that now the glitzy side of her optimism can balance out with the reality of some vulnerability.”

Read on below to find out everything you need to know about Emily in Paris Season 4.

When does Emily in Paris Season 4 premiere?

Part 1 is available now, and Part 2 launches on Sept. 12.

The show celebrated its return with a red carpet event in Los Angeles on Aug. 14, where lucky fans could experience the “Lens the Look” Style Journey by Shop With Google activation, see the stars arrive on the red carpet, and watch the first three episodes in a theater.

What will happen in Emily in Paris Season 4?

After the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s misbegotten wedding, Emily is reeling. (Wouldn’t you be?) Emily has strong feelings for two men, but Gabriel is on the verge of becoming a father, and ex-boyfriend Alfie’s (Laviscount) worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed. Unfortunately, Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together toward a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of.

“These are two characters who are star-crossed lovers,” Star said about Emily and Gabriel in an interview with Tudum for Season 3. “They have a lot of passion for one another. They have things that are getting in their way, but, at the same time, I feel like every season, in a strange kind of way, their relationship deepens.”

Meanwhile at work, Sylvie (Leroy-Beaulieu) is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage as the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shake-ups. And Mindy (Ashley Park) and the band are forced to get thrifty when they run out of funds preparing for Eurovision.

As you can see in new photos, this season introduces another fresh element to Emily’s Paris — namely, winter. Executive producer and director Andrew Fleming tells Tudum, “We’re getting a different textural feel of Paris. It was fun to think about the city in a different way for scenes that are more dramatically oriented, and to see Paris not all sunny and flowery but to see it a little gray and cozier and people in coats and dark skies. It’s just as beautiful during the winter, if not more so.”

Naturally, that includes lots of new layers, both sartorially and culturally. “Emily is really coming into her own, asserting herself, becoming much stronger with a style that is reinterpreting Parisian fashion codes,” costume designer Marylin Fitoussi tells Tudum. “And our motto was obviously to have fun, but to take maximum risks.”

And don’t forget, Emily has a Roman holiday in her future when she heads to Italy in Part 2, which Collins announced last year in a special video at the Tudum: A Global Fan Event.

Who’s in the cast of Emily in Paris Season 4?

Collins stars as Emily Cooper, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau, Ashley Park as Mindy Chen, Bravo as Gabriel, Razat as Camille, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine Lambert, and Lucien Laviscount as Alfie. The cast gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the show’s return, and you can check out those photos above.

Season 4’s guest stars include:

  • Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello. Originally from Rome, Marcello is direct, confident, and values simplicity. He’s substantive but never flashy — true to the roots of his family’s company.

  • Thalia Besson as Genevieve, Laurent’s twentysomething daughter from a past relationship who’s just moved from New York City to Paris to start her career. Her bright and eager demeanor immediately endears her to Emily, who’s thrilled to have an American expat to mentor. But their similarities may end up complicating Emily’s life both professionally and personally.

  • Rupert Everett as Giorgio Barbieri, the owner of a global interior design firm based in Rome. Giorgio makes it his business to know everyone else’s business, and to be the life of every party. He’s been friends with Sylvie for decades.

  • Anna Galiena as Antonia Muratori, Marcello’s mother, the matriarch of the Muratori family and the head of the family business. Antonia presides over their small village by building up the community and taking care of the people who live and work there. Even in uncertain times, Antonia is committed to maintaining the company’s soul.

  • Raoul Bova as Giancarlo, a charming, self-assured, and successful Roman commercial director who used to be Sylvie’s film professor.
